Don’t flatter yourself. You were not invited to the party, but you got there somehow. Nobody knows who you are yet, but they will soon enough. There is nothing about you that fits into this place but something about it reminds you of the person you used to be.

Simpletons, all of them… that’s what you think to yourself while you pour another drink on some heavily decorated glass. People are changing but you are staying the same, I wonder who is the simple one. I know it’s not you though, you are too complicated for your own good. Interesting is good, complicated isn’t.

Some mornings you wonder about what would it be like to really belong somewhere. I know you forget all about it once you get out of bed and you start loving your individuality all over again, but you do wonder sometimes. I respect you for that.

The anti hero act suits you, you are not as brave as the hero, but you are stronger and you can take it. You do it every single day without anyone noticing and that’s what makes it all worth a while.

You’re still standing there with the drink on your hand staring into the abyss like a dumbass but it’s ok because you are the greatest guy in the universe.

I’m using fucking words bro. I’m using them to express the absurd, abstract thoughts that wander my head but it’s hard to paint a good picture of them.

Asian people turning into mushrooms, rapists dancing on fire while little school girls laugh and pour gasoline on them, rule 34 of every possible fictional universe that I know of, the fundamentalist christians being right about the earth being flat and the world coming to an end soon, the worst sex in the world with the hottest woman alive, little infants working as politicians and doing a better job than our own.

This is a minute in my head and the insanity is the only thing keeping me sane. Absurdity gives context to objective reality or at least that’s the way I look at it. The more absurd a mind, the faster and sharper it’ll be.

Absurdity will set us free.

Cuando me mudé hicimos limpieza, y eso nos convirtió en los orgullosos padres de una obscena cantidad de libros viejos y viejos libros cuya custodia, por unos motivos o por otros, no podíamos ni queríamos asumir. Como amantes de las letras, respetamos el valor de la obra escrita (aunque César Vidal esté de por medio) y jamás d elos jamases osaríamos tirar ni quemar nada con letras y encuadernado que posea un mínimo valor literario. Por eso decidimos donarlos.

Pequeño problema: hablamos mucho y hacemos poco, así que han tenido que pasar 7 meses para que finalmente nos decidiéramos a hacer la llamada del ahorro y quedar con un transportista para que se llevase todos esos kilos de sabiduría celulósica de nuestro maravilloso pasillo. Así, una soleada (más que soleada, insoportable) mañana de agosto, bajamos esa monstruosa pila de libros ante la atónita mirada de los porteros y les dijimos adiós con un pañuelo (en realidad es mentira. Nos marcamos un high-five y nos abrimos un vino).

Y diréis, ¿todo esto a mí qué me importa? Pues resulta que nos han escrito para contarnos lo que han hecho con ellos.

Lo primero que queremos hacer es darte las gracias por tan generosa
contribucion.Comentarte que los libros fueron seleccionados no reciclando
ninguno ya que todos estaban en bastante bien estado.
Darte la alegria de que todo el lote que amablemente donastes han sido
enviados a un excelente proyecto de la tercera edad y para jovenes de un
pueblecito de A coruña en la que destinaron una sala de la juventud segun
nos cuentan para diversos actos en los cuales nos citan que han elaborado
una biblioteca pequeñita.
Nos dan las gracias por todo y por supuesto las gracias te las trasladamos
a ti ya que lo tenemos claro que sin vosotros esta labor es imposible.
Desde aqui os queremos seguir animando a seguir donando o si conoceis a
personas que creais que quieren ofrecer libros hazselo saber por favor.
Pensamos que con vuestra ayuda podemos hacer felices a muchas personas.

Empanadilla de nuggets a la italiana

Eran las 2 de la tarde y habíamos quedado para comer. O no. En realidad no lo sabíamos. Nuestros respectivos comensales estaban un poco difusos y no terminaban de dar señales conclusas acerca de nuestro futuro alimenticio, así que hicimos lo que todo hijo de vecino hace cuando no sabe si tiene que hacer algo: YouTube.

Los elegidos fueron Epic Meal Time, unos chavalotes fornidos y con las ideas muy claras (además su canal va de comida, bueno “comida”. Ya lo entenderéis). Tan claras que nos las clarificaron a nosotros y Liam pronunció las palabras mágicas:

-Vamos a coger una pizza, la vamos a rellenar de algo, la vamos a doblar en plan empanadilla y nos la vamos a calzar.

-¿Rellena de qué?

-Déjame pensar… Ya está, de nuggets.

Manos a la obra. Estaba tan delicioso que no tenemos palabras, y como una imagen vale más que mil, pues…

¡Qué aproveche!

It’s 14:00 O’clock and we both had plans to go out to lunch with different people. The problem is that neither of us knew anything about our respective plans yet. So what do we do? Indulge in the disgusting deliciousness that is epic meal time. We watched a video, and another one, and then of course, another one.

We were hungry as hell and nothing could stop our brains from thinking about junk food. I looked Borja in the eyes and said:

-We’re going to make a pizza, fill it with something and wrap that motherfucker like a taco.

-What should we fill it with?

-Let me see…. how about mcnuggets?

-Success!!

En esta casa tenemos una proporción de muebles por habitante desmesurada. Tanto que creo que si no colocásemos algunos encima de otros no tendríamos suelo suficiente para pisar y viviríamos entre un mar de ébano y caoba fingiendo ser bucaneros, lanzando maldiciones obscenas sobre todas las mujeres relativas a nuestras respectivas familias y jugando al hundir la flota con mesillas de noche y cabeceros de cama.

Lo divertido de jugar al tetris con mobiliario caro es que, de repente, te encuentras con verdaderas joyas de antaño decorando tu espacio vital y confiriéndole un toque y un saborcillo vintage decadente que con un par de copas de vino podríamos calificar de especial. Y como muestra, un botón: mi lámpara.

Es la típica pieza con tonillos dorados, reflejos de principio de siglo y curvas pasadas de vueltas que al encenderse convierte cualquier estancia en un despacho de detectives lleno de caspa, trajes arrugados y lamparones en las corbatas. Y tengo que decir que me encanta (además hace juego con la gotera del techo).

Además es grande. La pantalla es… sí, muy grande. Y no se lleva muy bien con la cortina, qué va. De hecho cuando les dejo solos se pelean. Es un canteo. Si nada más venirme a vivir aquí, una tarde peregrina me encontré a la pobre estampada de cabeza contra el suelo. Dos veces. La pobre no se lo merece, pero se la quiere y ahora tiene la pantalla hecha papilla y eso le da un toque incluso más decadente.

What’s fun about playing Tetris with your furniture is the chance of running into those special items that grant your bedroom with an awesome vintage feel that can’t be replicated. Pour yourself a good glass of red wine and stand in awe, introducing… the raunchy vintage fucked up lamp!

It’s got that goldenish finish, very reminiscent of the first half of the 20th century and turning it on instantly turns the room into an old detectives office, full of smoke, dust, cool coats and fat people reading newspapers. I love it!

It’s also huge, like, really huge. It always gets into fights with the curtains. And the lamp is never the winner. It looks even more awesome with each fight against the curtains as it gets that completely broken look about it.

So remember this. Never get into a fight with curtains, they’re mean motherfuckers.
